How Much Should I Charge 2 People for a Guitar Lesson at the Same Time?

Another guitar lessons question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Just started teaching guitar via Craigslist, and got a request to teach 2 women at the same time, for an hour. I’ve been doing 15 bucks an hour for one. Should it be 30?
Answer: I would charge between $15 and $25 for the combination./

20 dollars an hour per person seems resenable but give a drop it down to 15 if there doing a lot hours :)

That is really cheap. $15 to $25 per half hour is pretty normal. So yeah, they should both pay you $15 each.

You need to give them a financial break if you are teaching two at once as each person will only get half of your attention. You should charge $20 or $25 but not $30. If you are getting more students than you can handle at $15 then you should raise your prices. If not, you are priced correctly for your area.

My sister takes piano lessons from an old lady and for an hour it is 30 minutes. I take guitar lessons at a fancy school and it’s about 50 dollars for 45 minutes.

I believe 15 dollars is just too cheap. I would charge 25-30 dollars each since you aren’t a professional who works at a school. Guitar is an instrument that many would love to learn and learning, unless you’re doing it through Google, doesn’t come cheap.
