Answer: it depends, if it is musical notes it could take a little while but tabs you should learn in no time at all! however everyone learns differently and at different rates so theres no telling exactly for sure

    You probably don’t need to but if you really want to, it will take a good number of years.
    Usually when you get sheet music for a song, It has the chord changes written above the bars. For example it’ll say E or G minor or C sharp so there’s no need to learn to read if you’re just playing chords.
    For the melody, yeah you will need to learn to read music but you don’t need to get really good. No guitar player will read sheet music while playing a melody or solo. You just learn the notes and then memorize it.
    When you see a guitarist in a band look at his sheet music, he is just making sure he knows if any changes are coming up, he’s not reading the notes.

    It depends on how fast you can learn. I learned it for only a few months.
