Guitar takes a while to learn at first because most people aren’t used to the tension. It hurts at first and it’s hard to hold your hand in the positions for chords but once you get the hang of it it is easy.

The guitar is one of the easiest instruments to learn, in fact most guitarists, even famous ones, are self-taught. That’s one reason why the guitar is so popular.

It takes a little while to get started, though. At first your big problem is that you have to build up strength in your left hand, the one that holds down the strings. You also need to build up callouses on your fingertips. So at first you can’t practice more than 10-15 min. at a time (but you can do it more than once a day).

Also, many ‘beginner’ guitars are almost impossible to play. If you don’t already play guitar, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, you would think it was -you-. So it’s a good idea to take a guitar player along when you pick out your first guitar.
