Is It Better to Learn Guitar by Yourself or with a Teacher?

I just love answering these learn guitar questions. Here’s another:
Question: I’m starting guitar. And I can already kinda play Come as you are by Nirvana and Seven Nation Army by White Stripes. And I have only been playing for 3 or 4 days now. I keep doing those songs over and over again. I seem to get no where, I also ask my dad to get me guitar lessons, but he said I have to wait a few weeks so he can see where I get learning by myself. But I personally think learning with a tutor would be better because they can actually explain to me how to play how to do power chords, e.t.c. I’ve been looking for chords online, but I just can’t understand them because my electric is out of tune, and my dad says it is tune, so I really don’t know. My dad just doesn’t understand, so What do you think, Guitar better to learn by yourself or with a teacher?
Answer: With a teacher… duh!
Why would you even ask this question? It seems pretty obvious.
I’m reminded of a Mitch Hedberg joke: I taught myself how to play guitar, which was a bad idea, because I didn’t know how to play it, so I was a crumby teacher. I would not have gone to me.
With a teacher. I learned how to play guitar way better with a teacher because they teach you everything
See I taught myself guitar with the exception of a few guitar books which really helped, I never had a teacher but im sure you would benefit from having one. So yeah I learned the guitar without a teacher but a teacher could probably really help you.
I think teaching yourself, you’ll feel a greater sense of accomplishment and won’t feel boxed in by rules that you’re taught. However, it would be useful to learn chords and barre chords… but those are just tools so that you can further figure out things on your own. Do whatever you think is best though, and whatever you think will improve yourself, as a guitarist. Don’t just take my word for it. I have no idea about the technical side of music. My knowledge of music theory and the like is close to 0.
It’s always better to study with a tutor who is specialize in the instrument. But if you want just a quick lesson, go for the 1 month rapid result classes, to study the basics.once you’ve got the basics covered, it’ll be easy to study on your own. good luck and have fun
Get a teacher, you have no idea how much they’ll help. Good songs btw
on your own
