Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: thats right, i play the guitar, but now im looking into learn a NEW instrument…
what do you think the best choice is and why?
doesnt need to be influenced by the guitar either, it can be, but doesnt need to be.
whats the best instrument to learn to play why?
Answer: I’m not gonna call this the BEST choice, but it is a choice no one has mentioned yet: the harmonica.
Pros:
- cheap ($20-30 for a good brand model)
- super portable… fits in your pocket!
- very suitable for blues, if you’re into that
Cons:
- need several to play in different keys
Dulcimer sounds great with a guitar or by itself. Adds a special sound that is hard to get with any other instrument. It can be strummed or picked, pretty much like a guitar.
well nobody can really say a "best" instrument to play along with it. i play trumpet, guitar and i’m teaching myself piano and drums atm too. it really depends on what you like, and your knowledge of music. if you want something simple i’d say something like drums where you don’t really have to learn how to read music, as most guitarists cant because they just play chords or tabs… but like i said, its up to you
There really isn’t a BEST INSTRUMENT to play…that’s like demeaning to other instruments, even though they don’t have feelings.
I play guitar, clarinet, piano, and sing and I enjoy all of them and I really would love to learn to play bass guitar, cello, maybe harp, and a bunch more because I love music so much.
Piano is always a classic. Very fun in my own opinion once you get it, and you can challenge yourself by using both hands and reading two lines of music. I enjoy very much and it was the first instrument I learned to play…besides the recorder, but that is…just…ehhhh.
So, depending on style, time, and maybe money…it depends. Like piano, you can get a cheap keyboard which kinda is demeaning to the piano, or you can an electric piano, which is much better, or a piano, or a grand piano. But…of course they can be pricey.
Really it’s based on your opinion and your interest.
bongos/congas… or keyboard.
