This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: im 11 i have an acoustic guitar that i never played ever i have no experience with guitars i get frustrated easily and i want online guitar lessons and/or theory is there and online for free
Answer: Every top professional including athlete, actor and musician uses a coach or teacher.
Many of these teachers and coaches are in the background, never receiving the recognition of the public.
This gives the misconception that we can become a great athlete, actor or musician entirely free and on our own.
Adding to this are those with huge egos that claim to have achieved greatness all by their selves.
Find lessons or classes and work with other live face to face musicians.
It is extremely easy to get frustrated when you have no one to turn to when you do not understand something.
This week’s question is as follows:
Question: I’d like to try learning how to play the guitar, but I don’t know where to start. I tried taking piano lessons once, but I dropped out due to a sudden lack of enthusiasm for it. I have an acoustic guitar and I’d like to know if there’s any books or websites that can help me, preferrably at a low price. Obviously I still have to practice in order to get good, but yeah.
Answer: You could try learning the basics of notes first (basic chords, etc) and then once you master it, put notes together and you’ll get used to it (:
You could also try youtube (; haha. i was pretty lazy with learning guitar at first, but there are surprisingly a lot of guitar tutorial youtube videos out there (: i learned how to play a lot of songs just by watching and playing along.
Hope this helps ! & good luck
What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: Im thinking about getting a acoustic guitar, also what is the best brand, how long would it take to learn enough to play decently.
Then also if i took lessons or not.
Answer: It’s hard. If it were easy then everybody would do it. But it has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done next to raising my children. And I’ve raised both of them as musicians. How fast you’ll learn depends on you and how good your guitar teacher is. I’m a guitar instructor and most of my students can be playing songs after 4 to 6 lessons and be competent players in a year or so. The best guitar is the one you feel the most comfortable with. The best brands are Gibson, Taylor, Martin, Epiphone Masterbilt, Washburn. These are also some of the most expensive brands. You get what you pay for in the guitar world. But there are many less expensive ones on the market for the beginning player. Good luck and hope you stay with it.

Question: aha i know i gotta practice but i do every day and i just cant get it!
help please? any like simple tips would be awesome [: thanxx [: <33
without me having to go to lessons?
&& also what tips would help mee learn to play the acoustic guitar quickly? including changing chords quickly? aha thanxx [:
Answer: Go slow and steadily speed it up. That applies to anything you are learning on guitar. Even if you think you can just dive in a play a new scale at full speed, don’t. Go slow and steady, go from one chord to the next strumming steady, slow, constant beats. Speed up a little bit at a time. After a few weeks practicing everyday you should master going from one chord to the next in a flash.
Which brings me to my next bit of advice; never expect learning guitar to be quick. Whether it is going from one chord to another or learning a full Hendrix solo, expect it to take a lifetime to learn and do not give up. You can’t learn 10 new chords in a day and use them again next week. You have to spend weeks learning something, then use it regularly if you don’t want to forget it.

Question: So, I’m going to be starting to learn guitar in a few days. I don’t have the money, so besides internet videos, I will be self teaching myself. Does anyone have any good videos, tips, etc. on how to self teach yourself guitar?
Also I’m starting on an acoustic guitar my friend is letting me borrow, until I get my own electric guitar probably for Christmas.
Answer: Start off slowly!!!!!!!
Learn how to tune it properly.
Learn the notes of all the strings.
Learn basic "open chords" and play them until you do not hesitate when you switch them.
Find a few simple songs to strum and play.
Do not rely on TABS to learn guitar.

You will not be a good player after a couple of weeks.
A guitar lessons question that should definitely interest you all this week
Question: I have an acoustic guitar and has couple of books to teach myself a guitar, however, I have not yet learned how to play. I have learned about 10 chords, but knowing these chords does not make me a guitar player….. I have been thinking of taking a guitar lesson, is it worth it?
Answer: >>I have been thinking of taking a guitar lesson, is it worth it?<<
Guitar lessons (not just one lesson) are totally worth it. Statistics show that 90% of people who try to teach themselves, fail. If you’re serious about learning to play the guitar, take lessons. Good luck.
Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I’m an excellent guitar player, but I want to learn some new sweet songs, Like Coldplay songs, please, no Poison.
Answer: "Love Story" by Taylor Swift is great on the acoustic guitar. You might also consider "Echo" by Trapt–I love that song.
) I don’t know any Coldplay songs though.
A tough guitar lessons question this week. Let’s dive straight in
Question: I’m planning on getting guitar lessons. My mom already bought me a acoustic guitar. I’m kinda desperate to learn to play the guitar, so I know i’ll work hard and practice.
So my questions are:
1) How many days should I take lessons per week?
2) How many hours should I take per day? 30 minutes? 1 hour?
3) How many months should I stay on the lessons?
4) How many months will it take for me to learn the guitar? I don’t mean like be pro, but just be good at it and be able to play songs that like, I just want to learn the guitar so I can relax sometimes from stress.
Please give me some tips and advise. thanks!
Answer: i take lessons once a week for 30 mins for 3 or 4 years and i still love it so that depends on you. and it will probably take you 2 weeks to a month to learn how to play an easy song depending on you and the amount of practice you put into it.
What’s this week’s guitar lessons question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: I’m 15 and I want to learn to play the guitar but I have no idea where to start? What’s easier a electric or acoustic guitar? What’s a easy song to learn, and should I just find lessons on the internet or get a teacher?
Answer: Did you search the site at all? I’ve answered this at least 50 times and so have a bunch of other pro pickers.
1) Get a teacher for the first 8-12 weeks to get you started. After that you can do OK with online lessons but that couple months with a pro will save you a year of trial and error.
2) Acoustic/Electric — I’d start with an acoustic guitar that is set up to be very, very easy to play – low action and fairly light strings. You MUST have the guitar set up by a pro. No way around it. You will eventually want a good electric guitar as well – but an acoustic is a good starting point if it’s set up correctly.
3) Find a teacher who will let you learn what you like.
4) Buy the guitar from a GUITAR STORE – NOT – a mega big-box chain. Look for the shop where all the pros in your area go – and make friends with the people who own it- and the repair technician. They will watch your back the whole time you’re playing. Support your local guitar shop.
5) Always consider a good used instrument over a junk made-in-china new instrument. Used guitars that were traded in by a good player are going to be set up correctly.
Good luck.
