What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: …or bass… or drums… or vocals! :P
Answer: Message In A Bottle by Sting.

What Instrument is Easier to Learn, Piano, Drums or Guitar? Also Isn't Learning Guitar and Bass Pretty Much Th?

A tough learn guitar question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: e same thing?
Answer: Here’s what I’ve heard from musician friends: "If you want to play an instrument, but don’t have much talent for music, then play bass. If you want to play an instrument, but don’t have ANY talent for music, then play drums."

This is why I have a drum kit.

I’d say the drums are easiest, followed by bass, then piano and guitar are probably similar in difficulty.

I Have the Choice to Learn the Drums or the Bass Guitar, Which Should I Pick?

What’s this week’s learn guitar question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’d like to be in a rock/metal band a few years after I’ve picked either of these instruments, and a simple question is: Which one is harder to find- a drummer or a bass guitarist? I will be dedicated and will enjoy either!!
Answer: A bassist is harder to find. It’s not difficult to be a midiocre bassist either.

Should I Learn to Play the Guitar or the Drums?

Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I want to play the guitar, but my brother said that the drums are better…
Opinions? :D
Answer: ahhh, so u n ur bro are getting on now? lol

learn both, guitar first (get the hard stuff out of the way, also when u lean the guitar u basically learn more than one string instruments so its a good way to go) then drums, why did u stop with the piano?

i was looking at the cost of some of these instruments the other day, been planning on getting one and teaching myself for yrs *sighs*

I Play Tenor Sax and Drums. I Am Looking to Get a Bass Guitar. How Hard is It to Learn? Sould I Buy New/used?

Keep the learn guitar questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: I am also left handed. I am into classic rock and one song I want learn is time of the season by the zombies. What brands are good for beginners and also what songs?
Answer: Bass is one of the easiest instruments to play. Go to Musician’s Friend web site & read reviews from other players. Fender is always good, Gibson is good. Search for Free Guitar Tabs on the Internet, they will have Bass tabs too that show you exactly what strings to hit. They probably have the Zombies song too. Youtube is helpful also. New or used? Depends on the budget you have, but you can get a very good used bass. Just figure out what kind you want first. OH Yeah, look for a Left Handed Bass otherwise you will have to turn it upside down.

Which Instrument is Easier to Learn: Piano, Guitar, or Drums? How Easy?

What’s this week’s learn guitar question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: So which instrument is easier to learn? Also, how long does it take to get semi good? By drums I mean the full set. Also, is electric guitar easier or harder than acoustic?
Answer: It really depends on the person. But I’d say that a vast majority of people would say that guitar is the easiest of those three. From my experience, acoustic is easier to learn on, and if you know acoustic then it’s really easy to pick up electric.
How long it takes to be good all depends on how committed you are to learning it. If you work really hard at it and spend a lot of time working on the techniques, I’d say you could probably get pretty good in a year or maybe less. But I think it would take the average person over a year to get semi good.
And that applies for all three of those instruments.

I play piano, and it took me over a year to get good enough at it that I was ready to perform or anything. I’m decent at guitar, but not great because I haven’t spent much time with it.

Will Piano Be Easy for Me to Learn After a Year of Guitar?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I can switch chords (almost every known chord) with absolute ease, my strumming is excellent. I can play kinda fast solos. It takes me 10 minutes to an hour to learn a song. I can do major scales and pentatonic scales. To cut the story short, I’m good at guitar already.

I’m torn between learning the piano or the drums next. I have a band, Lead guitar/Vocals and all of the other band members know how to play drums. I’m the only one who doesn’t know. For the piano, I like the sound and it was my original plan to learn piano before the guitar. I wanna know if it will be easier for an experienced guitar player.
Haha well thanks but I think the guitar will still be more fun for me. :) I really love playing it. Can’t say the same about what i’m going to be learning. But yeah thanks for the input.

Answer: You will have an advantage over total beginners as you have experience with rhythm and are already developing a sort of musical ear. Let me say this first: congratulations! You learned all of that in ONE year? :D
From a band standpoint, I would probably learn drums but seeing that all your band members already can play drums except you I would probably not ;)
The piano is very versatile. With both piano and guitar you will be able to play not only solos but also accompany people. Singers- clarinet players for example :P . With both piano and guitar the music you will be able to play will range from famous classical pieces (MOZART piano concertos :D ) to rock etc…
It will be easier! I recommend it!
Good luck and I hope this helps!! :D
Hope your skills in guitar double next year!!

What to Look for when Buying a First Drum Set? And Will Learning Drums Help with Learning Guitar?

Keep the learn guitar questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: I’ve been wanting to learn the drums for a while now and was going to start saving up for a drum kit, but wanted to know what a good price would be to pay for a beginner set to learn on and hopefully last for a while? What are some brands to look for?

Have any of you had any luck buying used sets?

Also, on a side note, will learning drums help me with learning guitar/music. What with the rhythm and time that learning drums requires.

Thanks!
I’ve been playing guitar for about a year and a half now, so I wanted to try something new and I think I have a good sense of rhythm and would enjoy the drums a lot.

Answer: Since you’re experienced in guitar and music in general, you most likely know that EVERYTHING is expensive. With drum sets, its just as bad, if not worse. A good quality drum set can cost a few thousand dollars. And cymbals are a pain; most quality cymbals cost around $200 each, and some can go up to $400+, just for ONE cymbal! Most drum heads cost relatively the same, so there’s not much of a problem there. But for a beginner kit, you probably just wannna get an off-brand drum kit, which usually comes with the necessary hardware and some cheap cymbals and heads. There are tons of companies that sell off-brand kits, so I can’t tell you specifically what brand to get; however my first drum set was a Rockwell. But even a new off-brand kit usually will cost you around $500-$600. Used drum sets, whether off-brand or quality-brand, are still gonna cost you some big money, at the least being around $300. If you buy a used one off the internet (e.g. eBay), make sure you know whether or not cymbals and hardware are included.
I would probably have to say that the drums would relate more to bass guitar than anything; it’s crucial that the drummer and bassist in a band play "together" (in other words, the bassist should mostly correspond his notes to the beat of the bass drum). As you may know, playing the drums requires a heck of a lot of multi-tasking, so it does take lots of time to get used to; but since you already play guitar, it might be easier for you, since that requires multi-tasking too.

Should You Have Learned to Play the Guitar?

I just love answering these learn guitar questions. Here’s another:

Question: Should you have learned to play them drums
Answer: Then I would have had money for nothin’, and chicks for free…
