I just love answering these learn guitar questions. Here’s another:
Question: All time low
Avril lavigne
Boys like girls
Evanescence
Good Charlotte
Nickleback
Taylor swift (I know how to play you belong with me, teardrops on my guitar and jump then fall)
Mayday parade
Soooooo what are some easy songs to play by these artists or any other songs you recommend?????
Answer: You could learn knocking on heaven’s door, which is actually a bob dylan song, but avril lavigne has also played it. It’s very easy.
Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
Question: So Ima Learn to Play the Electric/acostic Guitar What Are Some Easy Songs to Lear for First Time Players?
Answer: Before you start songs, you have to learn chord structures and chord progressions. That is the most important thing for beginners, as all easy songs are composed of these and nothing else.
From there on, focus on songs with simple chord progressions such as D-G-C-D or Am-G-F etc. You can find these by googling "easy chord progression songs for begginer guitar". Good lucck
Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I have been thinking of an easy song to play on guitar and I was thinking of Blackbird by the Beatles.
I know quite a few chords like:
~ A Major ~ D Major ~ C Major ~ E Major ~ G Major ~ E Minor ~ A Minor
Those are the main ones i know. I thought the song, Blackbird was a pretty song. But, if you guys have any other easy songs to recommend for me, would be very helpful! [: thanks.
Edit: Do you guys have any other songs I could play?
My favorite band is: Chevelle
but their songs are hard.
If you guys have any song suggestions it would be nice! (:
Answer: Oh, no, it’s not. You have to imitate Paul McCartney’s hammer style picking.

Question: I’ve only recently started bass and I’m looking for some easy yet decent songs to learn. I bought an RHCP tab book but all the stuff in there is pretty tricky for a beginner. Help!
Answer: The first song I learned how to play on bass was "Money" by Pink Floyd, it’s a pretty recognizable but simple bass line.
Most punk rock bass will be pretty simple, especially older stuff like the Ramones, the Clash, the Misfits, Dead Kennedys, etc. I also agree with the guy below me that said "Sunshine of Your Love." Other good ones include the Beatles’ "Come Together," "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, "After Midnight" by Eric Clapton, "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin, "Roxanne" by the Police, and "Low Rider" by War. Classic Rock is usually good for learning bass because the bass lines are often simple, yet still instantly recognizable and fun to play. Keep it up and you might be able to play some of the Chili Peppers stuff in a year or two!
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: i’ve always played acoustic, so most of the songs i know sound kinda lame when amplified.
so what aer some good but not too easy songs for electric?
so far i’ve just done like nirvana and green day stuff.
Answer: AC DC…. the best rock band in all existence.

Question: Okay, I think I am getting a guitar for Christmas, and electric of course! Yeah, so, on an electric guitar, what are easy songs for a beginner to learn?
I know this sounds silly, but does a guitarist in a rock band usually play chords or a riff? Is it a riff or chords that drive most songs?
I know I probably sound silly, but please answer.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions.
P.S. If it makes a weird difference in learning how to play (i wouldn’t think so) I’m 13.
Thanks again!
It may be a little picky, but I like older rock songs – like 90’s and back. Sorry if that makes it harder. Though newer songs by older bands are good…
Someone put Stairway to Heaven – great song. (Led Zeppelin FTW!!) Thats the sort of music I like, as well as 80’s metal like Motley Crue, Scorpions and stuff.
Answer: Being 13 myself, I would recommend some earlier rock songs. Pink Floyd has tons of simple riffs that are fun to play. The first rock song I ever learned was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. It’s simple and has both riffs and chords. Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz is also a lot of fun to play and solo to. For a beginners, I recommend picking up a copy of Aaron Stang’s Guitar Rock Shop 1. He shows you how to play the riffs to a lot of hit rock songs and how to lead solo.
Answering your other question, guitarists in rock bands play a lot of both, but I find that the riff is what really hooks me into the song. HOWEVER, you should start by learning the basic chords (A, C, D, E, F, G, etc) and then learn riffs and stuff like that. Try to stay away from guitar tabs in the beginning, because being able to read music is a very valuable skill and will open doors for you to learn other instruments (like piano).
Hope this was of help to you.
This week’s question is as follows:
Question: Ive learned a few easy songs like plug in baby slowly and seven nation army but where do i really start? Like what should i learn? Cause i dont really have a direction im just playing.
Answer: I’ve never had a formal lesson in my life and now I rock stages all over.
It’s all self motivation. Stray away from "I wanna start on this easy band and work my way up to Metallica and DragonForce" or something.
Best way to learn any instruments, look anywhere online for simple note explanations, learn your chords, maybe check out YouTube for picking and hand exercises to work on a little everyday. Only then, when you’re comfortable with notes, start practicing with some tabs of your favorite songs or playing with online backing tracks. Nothing is funner than jamming along to your favorite songs on your iPod.
Have fun man.

Question: Hello, i am a novice guitarist, i can play some basic riffs from easy songs, and have a mediocre understanding of how to read tabs.
Can anyone reccommend any sites which could teach me how to play for free?
(even just a series of tutorial videos)
I tried youtube, but i couldn’t find any decent guides.
all help would be appreciated.
cheese- thank you for the site, looks like a great place to fin tabs, but really looking for tutorials on how to play guitar, such as skill development, coordination, etc, not how to play certain songs.
Answer: Try ultimate-guitar.com
Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
Question: I am new to guitar, and I am learning on electric which I hear can be a little tougher..
(I will eventually buy an acoustic) but I am wondering what are some easy songs to sing and play along with for someone who just learned chords.. and is self-taught?
Answer: It’s slightly easier on the hands to play electric, when you’re starting out on guitar. As for which one is tougher between electric and acoustic, the only difference is HOW you play it. It’s not necessarily harder on either one.
I’ve been playing for 23 years, am entirely self-taught, and can rip in multiple styles, so you’re fine doing it on your own. I highly recommend checking out guitar magazines that have transcriptions to popular songs in the back, and looking for books of sheet music & tablature, of your favorite bands. If you live close to a Guitar Center, they carry these types of books. Find books/magazines that have music you already like, because you’ll be more motivated to learn, to practice, and to keep improving.
Keep the learn guitar questions coming! I liked this one:
Question: I can play piano and read music well and I’ve been thinking about learning guitar. If I get lessons and practice would it be difficult for me to learn a few easy songs by the end of a couple of months?
Answer: If you really WANT to play a guitar, it will not be as hard as one might think. The learning will be a "labor of love" and you should enjoy it. I had a friend show me a few simple chords and I practiced them over and over, then he showed me a couple more, and I practiced them over and over. Put them together and you have a song. There are a lot of songs you can play with 3 or 4 simple chords. You should have no problems learning a few not too difficult songs in several months. You’ll have to put yourself on you tube so we can watch your progress. Good luck, have lots of fun, and believe me….it’s worth the effort.
