I just love answering these learn guitar questions. Here’s another:
Question: I have just bought a Fender Strat and am now looking for a book which I can use to teach myself to play electric guitar.
I already play Classical/acoustic guitar though not popular music, I play to grade 5 and am now looking for a book to play more popular styles of music. Obviously I already have some knowledge of guitar playing so feel that i can teach myself. Just looking for a useful book. Any ideas/reviews would be awesome, thanks.
Answer: get the ebook from http://guitarmanual.typepad.com its 93 pages and 8 chapters covering everything from beginning to advanced in easy to understand step by step lessons, covering open chords, barre chords, power chords, single notes, playing techniques, major minor pentatonic scales, chord construction, chord inversions, keys, modes, improvisation and much more, with videos to go along w/ the pages of the book, try it out ! good luck

Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I’ve learning the acoustic guitar for an year now . I want to know that what all chords , patterns ,techniques , etc. am I supposed to know by the end of one year . I want to know this so that I can judge whether I am going at a regular pace or not , or judge how my teacher is . Also , I’ve heard that you have to play a minimum of two years on the acoustic guitar , to progress onto an electric guitar . Is this true ? Thanks
Answer: I don’t think there’s a one-size-fits-all answer. You progress as you progress. Too many variables. Also as every teacher teaches very differently there’s the idea of what order you learn things, what approach the teacher is using, etc. etc. Similarly there is no official anything to say "you have to play this instrument first for X years" anywhere in music. Are you enjoying your study? Do you feel you are learning and progressing? Rather than focus on what you know now, consider how you learned it. That’s the measure of your teacher. And probably the measure of your success as a student.

Question: What is the best way to learn to play Electric guitar?
ive decided id like to learn to play electric guitar but im wondering what the best way to learn is
self taught with books , teach myself or Private lessons (i can afford them).
Plus what would be the best electric guitar to buy to start with??
Thanks
Answer: Get a simple guitar to start yourself out with just incase your endeavor to learn guitar doesnt take. it depends on how serious you are too. you can look at tabs
you can self teach yourself…inwhich case youd have to really commit. draw yourself chords and such and tape index cards on doors and walls n such. you can take lessons…i did…and it was pain staking slow. i didnt much care for taking two weeks to lean ode to joy. so by all means…teach yourself or just go with tabs until you decide if you really like guitar
What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: im a beginner. i know a few pieces of songs like the intro to dream on, by the way by the red hot chili peppers, low rider, etc.
Answer: Could have lied by the chilis, just learnt the rhythm part, but the solo is beyond me for now.
Everlong by foo fighters is great and really easy but drop D tuning (you have to drop low E string to D). Well worth it!
We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of learn guitar. Let’s take a look:
Question: I decided that I want to play the electric guitar and I wanted to know how long it takes. I’ve had experience with other musical instruments too. This has been my 3rd year playing flute and I have also played the piano for about a year and a half.
Answer: It would depend on how talented you are and how many hours a day you’re willing to spend on it. No one will ever be able to tell you how long it’ll take. You just have to try it and find out for yourself.
Good luck!
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: I want to learn how to play the electric keyboard and electric guitar, but I don’t know if I have to learn how to play the acoustic guitar and normal piano first, which I would prefer not to learn. Somebody please help
From the answers I have gotten, how would I be able to judge playing on a piano when I am ready to start the keyboard?
Answer: For a piano yes. But electric guitars are really different from acoustic ones. You would have to learn it separately
A guitar lessons question that should definitely interest you all this week
Question: Is It Hard to Learn How to Play a Electric Guitar Without Taking Lessons?
Answer: No, it’s very easy to play it.
But if you want to play it WELL, that’s a different story. My dad taught himself guitar but it took years.
"So you wanna be a rock ‘n roll star, do what I say, do what i say. Just grab an electric guitar and learn how to play…"
What’s this week’s learn guitar question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: So which instrument is easier to learn? Also, how long does it take to get semi good? By drums I mean the full set. Also, is electric guitar easier or harder than acoustic?
Answer: It really depends on the person. But I’d say that a vast majority of people would say that guitar is the easiest of those three. From my experience, acoustic is easier to learn on, and if you know acoustic then it’s really easy to pick up electric.
How long it takes to be good all depends on how committed you are to learning it. If you work really hard at it and spend a lot of time working on the techniques, I’d say you could probably get pretty good in a year or maybe less. But I think it would take the average person over a year to get semi good.
And that applies for all three of those instruments.
I play piano, and it took me over a year to get good enough at it that I was ready to perform or anything. I’m decent at guitar, but not great because I haven’t spent much time with it.
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: i’ve always played acoustic, so most of the songs i know sound kinda lame when amplified.

Answer: AC DC…. the best rock band in all existence.
