Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I’m an excellent guitar player, but I want to learn some new sweet songs, Like Coldplay songs, please, no Poison.
Answer: "Love Story" by Taylor Swift is great on the acoustic guitar. You might also consider "Echo" by Trapt–I love that song.
) I don’t know any Coldplay songs though.
What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: I am a beginner guitar player and want to know if the song Sabotage by the Beasty Boys is a good and easy song that I can learn. I want to know if someone at my level of playing electric guitar could learn that song through hard work and patience.
Thank you
Answer: Extremely. It’s only a single guitar chord, with the exception of some harmonics and the really brief solo about a minute in.
The main riff that defines the song is actually the bass guitar with a little bit of distortion. The normal guitar part is really simple.

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: Playing lead and rhythm? being part of a commercial band? knowing all the scales? being able to show off to an audience? being able to replicate any song on demand? Having a different colour guitar? Playing left-handed? playing a variety of styles? having an extensive fan-base? Being able to play any song by ear? Making your own solo on the spot? etc.
Answer: Most people have not answered the question. The practice practice and more practice is what it takes to become a good guitarist, but great guitarist ? I have known many guitarists and after the initial learning process, most simply accept their position in the order of things and do not get better or worse….25 years later they are still playing the same riffs. This leads me to believe that providing you have the basics and can play, being great is very much in the lap of the gods…..you either are or you aren’t !
This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: Who the Fastest Guitar Player of All Time?

A guitar players question that should definitely interest you all this week
Question: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Jeff Lynn, Jimi Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Brian May, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon…
They’re all great but whose playing style is superior?
Answer: You can’t really have a superior playing style, as the technique for styles is different. An example of this is that out of necessity, two fingered chords, were a feature of Django’s playing. (cos only two fingers worked !) I think you are probably talking about guitar and not bass players, so you can discount Bruce and McCartney. I reckon it’s a case of take anyone from the following : Chet Atkins, Albert Lee, Peter Green, Jimi Hendrix, Little Milton (This guy was BB King ++++), Ry Cooder, the list is endless and the answer is impossible. What a great guitar players question:
Question: Whats the Best Tip You Can Give to an Intermediate Guitar Player with Good Theory Behind Them?
Answer: Perfect practice makes perfect.
Never practice anything faster than you can play it. Practicing mistakes only reinforces mistakes. Speed and accuracy comes from repetition.
Theory is an important part of the equation but music is physical as well. Like in sports, warm up slowly. The more you practice and play the more endurance you will develop.
The more that you put into it the more you will get out of it.
Have fun with it.
Good luck.

Answer: Jeff Healey
We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of guitar players. Let’s take a look:
Question: Who is the Greatest Guitar Player of All Time, Hendrix,Page,Blackmore,Vai, BB or Another ??
Answer: It has to be Jimi Hendrix. Why? Well listen to guitarists before Jimi Hendrix came on the scene, then listen to guitarists afterwards. His influence changed the whole guitar sound. Nobody ever used the ELECTRIC guitar better than him. You get guitar players now who play lightening scales. But so what? Where is the musical content in that? With practice, most people can play fast scales but it’s just the male equivalent of seeing who can piss up the wall the highest! What’s the point? That is musical autism at its best. Most people only hear Jimi’s popular stuff like Voodoo Chile or Purple Haze. Both great songs, but try to get a listen to ‘Midnight’ or ‘Pali Gap’ – those songs are what you would call ‘movies for your ears’.
