Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:
Question: I bought a guitar a while ago and I was just wondering how hard is it gonna be to at least play a song?
Answer: Depends on your work on it and excitement about it. When I was about nine I attempted learning guitar, but I never really did anything because at that age I guess I was more interested in running around with my friends and stuff, then I took it up again when I was 12-13 and learned ’smells like teen spirit’ in no time at all. If you aren’t really wanting to do much and don’t put a lot of effort in you can’t expect picking up a guitar and learning a bunch of songs, it takes time at the start and patience. I am talking about when you start, after you are good at your first song you feel like learning other songs and get better and better each time and when you have been playing for a while you realize that you can lear songs much faster than before. The answer to your question really depends on the work you put in it, the harder you work the better results you’ll get.
What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: Hi, I’m 13 and I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar.
When I was in year 5 (10years old) I started learning, and I had a half hour lesson once a week.
Then I started Year 7 and I forgot most of the chords and songs I learnt so when I auditioned for guitar lessons I didn’t have anything ready – while the other audition people knew some stuff.
And at school its better to have one instrumental lesson since the lessons are during other lessons such as maths etc. and I didn’t get in to have the lessons.
But I still want to learn how to play the guitar – I just don’t know how, and there are no places to learn in my neighborhood.
Is their anyway I can learn how to play?
and I don’t want to pay any or much money for it anyway.
I know that some musician’s self teach themselves
but if I saw going to do that – I wouldn’t know where to start!
Is their anyway I can learn without paying?
because I know I can get like a private tutor or whatever.
Thanks!
When I said
And at school its better to have one instrumental lesson since the lessons are during other lessons such as maths etc. "and I didn’t get in to have the lessons"
I meant that I didn’t pass the guitar audition to have lessons.
Answer: Easyyy, i started when i was 13 as well
I played bass guitar then switched to guitar.
You can find tutorials on google which tell you how to play and learn notes.
Or you can just watch youtube videos
just type in "how to play guitar beginner" and should be many videos!
Goodluck
I just love answering these learn guitar questions. Here’s another:
Question: I cant find guitar lessons anywhere, so i plan on teaching myself. I could really use some helpful links for stuff like chords and learning how to read tabs and whatnot. Thanks!
D
The point of this question was for people to give me websites on how to play the guitar. I cant find lessons anywhere, and believe me, i searched and searched and searched.
Answer: PluckandPlayGuitar has free video based lessons for absolute beginners and assume you know nothing or close to nothing.
It takes you step by step through the basic guitar chords one by one. There’s also lessons on guitar scales, techniques and some easy songs to play.

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:
Question: I Was Wondering if School of Rock is a Good Place to Learn How to Play the Guitar Thank You?
Answer: you can easily learn it yourself my cousin and i did
Keep the learn guitar questions coming! I liked this one:
Question: Hello everyone, I would like to learn how to play the guitar and I’m wondering if you could tell me how long it may take for me to be really good at it?
Answer: Depending on your level of dedication, it could be quick, or not. I’ve been playing for 20 years, and there are still some things that I can’t pull off. Getting really good takes a certain amount of ability that just can’t be taught, the same sort of thing that guys like Clapton and Hendrix have.
Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: I am interested in learning how to play the guitar. Is there a way other than going and getting lessons from someone? Thanks for any and all help.
Answer: Yes, there is another way. Not to brag but to show proof that you can, I learned guitar by myself under 10 minutes. If you have an iPod Touch, download an application called TouchChords. It has the entire chord library, from there, just by trying new things everyday, you can learn as much as I have, which is about the very end of the peak of intermediate. You should note that, acoustic, acoustic-electric, electric, solid-body electric, semi-hallow electric, and hallow electric are only types of guitars, as long as they only have 6 strings. ONLY learn on a six string guitar, any more or less is for people who mastered six string guitar and want a whole new instrument. So whatever type of guitar you learn on doesn’t matter as long as it’s six string. START WITH ACOUSTIC. That will take you far in your musical life. You can learn on YouTube, other websites, or if you can read Tablature or Tabs, (which I can’t read) you can learn there, it’s easy to read because millions of people say so, I may just be a special one who can’t read music. But those are some ways, hope I helped.
We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of learn guitar. Let’s take a look:
Question: i haven’t learnt anything yet but i feel like i’ll never be able to play a note, much less a song, does everybody feel like this before they learn an instrument?
Answer: i dont ever feel like that. but if you have a guitar start messing around with it. get used to struming. and maybe go on youtube and look up some videos on how to play. mostly jusy get comfortable with the guitar and youll be fine
oh and try not to get frustrated. learning guitar takes a lot of time and practice. and definately alot of mistakes. ive been playing for 6 years.
Another learn guitar question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Question: So, I reeeaalllly wanna learn. I have an old electric in my house with the amp but while playing around with trying to tune it, i broke 3 strings lol =P. I wanna learn how to play guitar myself because I don’t have the money for guitar lessons. How should I start and go along? I know and can play a few chords like G major, C major, E minor, D minor because my friends likes to show me and let her play on her guitar. Should I start like that, just memorizing all the chords?
Help appreciated =]
Answer: you could watch free lessons on the INTERNET, YouTube for example (go on and type how to play "the name of the song" on guitar)(or how to play the AM chord)(or "beginner guitar lesson number 1" and they will start from the complete bottom for complete beginners its easy to follow) or "freeguitarlessons.com" (i think that’s what its called) online lessons are helpful and some of them explain really well that’s how i started
but you could start by finding a song you like that has those chords in it and start by practice to move your fingers from chord to chord in tempo. then when you reach that level you could start learning more chords, as to not confuse your self by taking in too much information at one time. you just need to practice ALOT and try not to get bored because everything at the beginning is difficult and a pain when you cant do it at the first, second or third trial you just need to stick to it the first parts the hardest. GOOD LUCK!
I just love answering these guitar lessons questions. Here’s another:
Question: I have no patience to actually properly learn how to play the guitar, so I was wondering if there was a website or youtube channel where you can learn guitar songs step by step? I just want to know how to play songs and not have to learn all the chords and shi*. Thanks.
Answer: Yeah just learn how to read guitar tabs and dive right in. Here is a detailed video on how to read guitar tabs:
http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com/HowToReadTab.html
and they also have videos where the tabs light up while a guitar plays the song, here is the link to the simplified Fur Elise by beethoven tab video:
http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com/FurEliseSimple.html
or they have a simplified version of the Super Mario Bros music:
http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com/MarioSimple.html
You will need to practice a lot if you want to be good, but you can be playing songs from the radio in just a few hours of learning.
This week’s question is as follows:
Question: And my first song is Tailor Made by Colbie Caillat
Is this a good song to start off with?
And I am open to other suggestions if you have them! Thanks!
Answer: That seems like a good choice. You could also learn the Super Mario Bros music:
http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com/MarioSimple.html
Or I also know of an easy version of Fur Elise by Beethoven:
http://www.FuzzyMonkeyTabs.com/FurEliseSimple.html
Both of those are for beginners.
