Can Anyone Help Me Find Advanced Acoustic Guitar Songs to Learn?

A tough learn guitar question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: i just learned how to play No Other Way by Jack Johnson and i would like to learn more songs like that with fingerpicking…i also know how to play do you remember and other songs that are hard like some steve howe songs. anyone got any suggestions?

Answer: If you want to learn to play something a little advanced that sounds interesting, you might want to learn "chord-melody" style guitar. That’s when the melody and the chords are done at the same time. If you take a look at this lesson, you’ll see that you can play a song like MGMT’s Kids on an acoustic guitar and make it sound pretty decent. It’s not an easy style to master, but it’s very impressive when you can pull it off.

Question: I like Country, Metal, Rock, Blues, Grunge, punk, pop-punk, reggae, acoustic etc. I can literally can go from listening to Metallica to John Mayer. Misfits to Jack Johnson. Hendrix to Kenny Chesney. Nirvana to Blink 182. Etc. How do I decide on what to play?

Answer: What audience do you anticipate having?
If you don’t please the audience, you don’t get gigs, so you have to start out playing dance songs, romance songs, and lost chance songs. If you develop a good reputation you can start throwing stuff you like in the sets, but first you gotta play the music liked by them that pay.

Guitar or Piano Better to Learn?

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: I really want to learn how to play something. I’ve been messing around on the piano and the guitar a little, and I really like them both. Idk which one to pick. I played the bass guitar for years so I guess I have some background for the guitar, but I like the piano too. I’m a huge jack johnson fan, so it would be cool to learn him, but I also like some modern piano songs (like jacks mannequinn or somethign corporate) Idk.

Answer: I would have to say go with guitar, gutiars are cheaper, more portable, and easier to work with. Also guitars, in my experience, are a little easier to learn than piano, and you can play more difficult songs on them. Also you can play piano songs on the guitar, i just learned Fur Elise – Beethoven on mine

Would You Be Able to Be a Good Guitar Player Even Though You Dont Get Lessons?

Question: because i dont get guitar lessons but only get the chords of the songs from the internet and if i dont know a chord i just look it up. would i be a good guitar player that way? i’m playing an acoustic guitar player btw. the songs i play sonds similar to the song. my brother taught me some as well. i’m 14 and have been playing it for 10 months and learned 10 songs such as john mayer ones, jack johnson, the kooks and other stuff. do i need to get lessons?
