Question: I am left handed and learning to play right handed guitar. I can manage chords. However, there is a major problem with strumming. I find it difficult to adjust the pressure I put on the strings with the pick. Sometimes it is too much and sometimes it is too light. It always sounds out of rhythm. However when I strum with left it feels natural. But there isn’t much option available in my locality for left handed. So please help me find a way out to learn strumming easily with right hand.

Answer: you just gotta keep at it. keep strumming and train that hand. or flip your guitar upside down and restring it backwards and play left handed like every other left handers. You’d get to have that cool upside down guitar look all of us right handers wish we had. or just practice strumming simple beat patterns like struming, down up down up, change chord, down up down up, change chord…. and do it all the same time like a clock ticking and slowly speed up. use a simple set of chords like Am,C,G,Em

Question: Playing lead and rhythm? being part of a commercial band? knowing all the scales? being able to show off to an audience? being able to replicate any song on demand? Having a different colour guitar? Playing left-handed? playing a variety of styles? having an extensive fan-base? Being able to play any song by ear? Making your own solo on the spot? etc.

Answer: Most people have not answered the question. The practice practice and more practice is what it takes to become a good guitarist, but great guitarist ? I have known many guitarists and after the initial learning process, most simply accept their position in the order of things and do not get better or worse….25 years later they are still playing the same riffs. This leads me to believe that providing you have the basics and can play, being great is very much in the lap of the gods…..you either are or you aren’t !
